General Travel Tips
  1. Make sure that your passport is current and up-to-date. You should have at least 6 months remaining, preferably 1 year. A passport is mandatory for exiting and entering the United States.

  2. Make copies of the first two pages of your passport. - Leave one with a contact in the United States. - Seclude a copy of your passport in each one of your suite-cases.

  3. When touring carry your passport in your front right hand pants pocket. If you are left handed place it in the left pocket. Money should be in the opposite front pants pocket. Never ever carry anything of importance or value in your back pockets and absolutely no purses for the ladies.

  4. Do not draw attention to your-self. Try to dress to blend with culture of the area you are touring. Be aware of their customs, rituals, and taboos, always remembering to be respectful and mindful that you are merely a guest of the host country. However do not be afraid to experience the flavor of the country by getting off the beaten tourist path.

  5. Know the Customs Laws of both the United States and the country you are visiting. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. If you break the law you are guilty.

  6. Know the location of the United States Embassies and Consulates in each of the countries that you plan to visit

  7. Do not wear a lot of expensive jewelry while on travel - you are just asking for trouble. Sorry ladies this means you. Leave the jewelry in a safe at home or in a Bank safety deposit box.

  8. Medication should be carried in your carry on luggage and be in the prescription labeled containers that they originally came in. Not using that 35-cent container may cost you a long delay minimum to your vacation, or many thousands of dollars in fines as well as jail time, depending which country you are visiting.

  9. Do not wear money belts, camera or other pouches that hang from the belt. They are telltale signs of a tourist, invite trouble, can easily be cut off and taken. Above all in this day and age do not wear a backpack as it is easily accessible to remove valuables or even more so deposit a destructive device with out your knowledge. At the point of camping or hiking is an exception.

  10. Cameras use a good one that you are very familiar with for those fond memories, keep it in front of you at all times. Try to look and act as a Photo-journalist rather than a tourist.

  11. When all else fails, stop, take a deep breath, think and then use simple common sense.
